 THE BOSSIER CENTRAL LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR TEEN CENTRAL?
WE WON'T BE AROUND FOR A LITTLE WHILE, BUT WE WILL BE BACK BETTER THAN EVER!

Teen Lock-in

Teen Lock-in at the Library

Celebrate the end of the school year by spending the night in the library!

Ages 13-18

There will be games, internet, a photo scavenger hunt, pizza, and more!

Teens must sign up in advance and return a permission slip signed by themselves and their parents.

Teen Summer Reading Program



All teenagers in Bossier Parish, between the ages of 13-18, are invited to participate in the Teen Summer Reading Program!  This year, three branches will have weekly programs: the Bossier Central Branch, the Aulds Branch, and the East 80 Branch.  The dates are as follows:

*There will not be any programs during the week of July 4th.

There is also a reading challenge that teens may participate in, even if they do not attend the weekly programs.  For every 3 hours spent reading, participants will get a small prize, up to five prizes.  For every 15 hours spent reading, participants will get an entry in the grand prize drawing.  The grand prize is a Samsung Galaxy 7" tablet.  Reading logs will be given out on the first day of the program at each branch, and are due back at the library by July 24th.  The grand prize winner will be selected and contacted on Monday, July 28th.  The Benton and Haughton branches will also have reading logs available.

Short Film Contest Winners

For Teen Tech Week this year, the Bossier Central Library held a Short Film Contest.  Winners are listed below. Click the links below to watch the videos.

First Place went to "All the Way Home

During the viewing party, guests were allowed to vote for People's Choice.

BPL Short Film Contest

Short Film Contest
Teen Tech Week


Ages:  13—18

 To celebrate Teen Tech Week in March, the Bossier Parish Library is having a Short Film Contest for teens between the ages of 13-18.  Teens may create short films on their choice of topic that are no longer than 10 minutes in length. 

Short films must be submitted to Youtube and submission information must be emailed to the library.  Registration forms must also be completed and returned for every participant (director, writer, actors, etc.).  Information sheets and    registration forms are available at the Bossier Parish Libraries.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: MONDAY, MARCH 10, 2014 (END OF DAY)

Finalists will be selected to be shown at a viewing party.  No more than 10 short films will be viewed at the party.  Everyone is invited to attend to enjoy                   refreshments and the short films!  Winners will be announced at the party.

Thursday, December 12, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm – Book Christmas Trees – Make Christmas trees by folding the pages of old books.

International Games Day @ the Bossier Central Branch

The Bossier Parish Libraries are getting involved with International Games Day!

The Bossier Central branch will be celebrating International Games Day on Saturday, November 16th, from 1 pm - 3 pm.  We'll have video games (X-box 360 and Wii) and board games.  The program is for ages 13-18.

Teen Read Week

Teen Read Week is October 13 - 19!  Come celebrate teen literacy at your local Bossier Parish Library branch!  

Here's whats going on at our libraries for teens this week:

Bossier Central Branch

Book Face! - Mon, October 14 - Fri, October 18
Find a book with a face, hand, foot(!) on the cover and pose for a picture with the book in front of your own face, hand, foot!  Just find your book and let the staff know you want to have your picture taken.  Pictures will be posted in the Teen Central area.

Blackout Poetry - Thurs, October 17, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
We'll taking pages out of discarded books and making poetry out of the words by blacking out/drawing designs over any words you don't want to use.

Aulds Branch

Read-a-thon - Sun, October 13 - Sat, October 19
Win prizes for reading! You can come into the Aulds library and read in their Teen Central area or read at home.  If you want to read in the library, check in with Amanda before you start and when you finish.  If you want to read at home, or Amanda isn't available, send a text to 318-459-8063 when you start and stop reading.

Benton Branch
